Bon Voyage
Travelling makes me feel refreshed and alive!
Meeting new people, learning about different cultures and
languages, trying different cuisines, looking at the sky from different places,
and most importantly clicking photos of new experiences and making them
memories excites me like no other thing that I do!
At the age of 11, it was my very first time travelling to another
country. In fact, it was the very first time I had ever sat in an aeroplane! We
landed in Bangkok, Thailand at around 4 a.m .
As a child I was excited by even the smallest of things, like looking at
so many different looking faces, hearing people speak so many different
languages, looking at the roads and the vast infrastructure. I was amazed at
how different yet similar it was from back home. According to the itinerary that was filled
with surprises and adventures we left for the beach.
It was my first time seeing the sea and I was stunned by that vast body
of water right in front of me. It was a place full of wonder and mystery where
the waves were gently swaying me towards the shore. The way the light reflected
looking like little diamonds were sitting on the surface of the water, the way
the waves came to the shore and little crabs popped up leaving little holes in
the sand, it was all magical! I knew that day, that the beach would always by
‘my place’. We took a motorboat to go to the middle of the sea and do some fun
activities.
The first activity listed for the day was -Parasailing. I had always
wondered how birds felt like watching all of us as tiny little creatures when
in reality they were the ones. When I rose to the sky I could see the
whole world beneath me. The calm sea, the innumerous boats floating around in
the water and the gigantic forests. It was a breathtaking view. Once you reach
the destination height of several hundred feet, everything around you takes on
a new perspective.
The next in the adventure list was underwater diving. We were made to put on bulky oxygen helmets that looked like the ones worn by astronauts. We started descending the never-ending ladder and entering in the infinite blue.
I felt like I was in another
civilization, it was magical. I could hear soothing music and like the world
slowed down as I tried to savour every moment, remember every detail. It was
far more alluring than I imagined. I saw uncountable fishes dancing in their
ever-impressive formation. Candy-hued coral swayed underneath like a colourful
Monet. Crabs were crawling across the seafloor, as the colourful parrot fishes
appeared out of sudden.
Exploring nature is a meditation in itself. The feeling of power
rejuvenates your inner self. It’s like a dream you don’t want to wake up
from; swimming with a shoal of bream, plants tickling your body with the
smallest touch and at the same time the peacefulness of floating over the
ocean, watching the breathtaking sights of the coast makes you feel invincible!
If it were up to me, I would want to live this dream again and again and
again!
That day was truly a leap into the
unknown.
